“Paris is always a good idea,” said Audrey Hepburn. Which is definitely true! The beautiful Paris is not known as the city of love for nothing. It is therefore a very popular location for marriage proposals. But how do you begin a proposal that you plan from a distance, in a city that you don’t know? Photographer and expert Gert Huygaerts gives you some tips and tricks below to help you plan your marriage proposal!
Paris, city of lights and place to be for many proposals
Gert: “Paris is a city where all the ingredients are present for your perfect proposal. You’ll find wonderful restaurants on picturesque squares, historic monuments in beautiful districts, top hotels… There is a distinctly romantic atmosphere reflected in the refined architecture, the beautiful gardens, the life on and alongside the Seine, and in the many small streets that appeal to the imagination. It is the perfect setting for a guaranteed ‘I Do’! Have you ever been to Paris together? Then returning for your proposal is a very romantic nod to your trip back then.”
The most beautiful places for your proposal
Gert: “Paris has a lot of beautiful places to offer for your proposal. In the Jardin de Tuileries you automatically fall in love with the beautiful greenery and the classical French architecture of the Louvre. The incredibly charming Place des Vosges also offers a proposal perspective, and in the middle of the Seine the same applies to Place Dauphine, a beautiful hidden spot on Ile de la Cité. At Trocadero you have a breath-taking view of the Eiffel Tower, as well as in the Avenue de Camoens, which is actually a very quiet street. In Montmartre you immediately feel that particularly creative, arty vibe that has been there for centuries, and so on. The old, colourful streets in Le Marais or Le Quartier Latin also offer a lot of possibilities. Google ‘La Rue Galande’… ? Or go for a peaceful piece of nature in the Jardin de Luxembourg. Then again, you’ll find a combination of charm and nature in the Instagram worthy Rue Crémieux.”
Intimate proposal in a dazzling city
Gert: “Paris is a very busy city. Because of this, it is not always easy to find a quiet place where you can have an intimate moment with the two of you. I would dare to recommend getting up early… In the morning, when the city awakens, you have the greatest chance of an intimate proposal in the most famous locations of Paris. The beautiful dawn of the sun will get you! Are you more of an evening or indoor person, and looking for a special restaurant where you can pop your question? Then consider a ‘tête à tête’ at Hotel Costes or Buddha Bar, and overnight at Le Meurice, the Shangri-La Paris or one of the many more affordable alternatives.”
We’ll always have Paris…!
