Have you and your partner always been the type to go on adventures?  Then propose to her in an interactive way with a scavenger hunt! It’s a great way to incorporate elements of your relationship!  But how do you actually plan such a romantic getaway? Ready To Ask is here to help you! Check out our tips below and use them to make your marriage proposal even more special. Just be aware, treasure hunts are not for everyone, that’s for sure. Some like to keep it quiet and simple. It really all comes down to how much your partner would appreciate the proposal!

Special locations in your relationship

Think back to places that have special meaning for you and your partner. For example, the place where you first met, shared your first kiss, or first laid flat with laughter together. Including important places from your memories in your scavenger hunt will make your proposal more meaningful. Don’t really have any special locations that have meaning within your relationship? Or are the places not really suitable for a marriage proposal? Then consider new places. These locations could be romantic or contain stunning views. Definitely consider using the location that you are sure will be special in the future!

Add special elements as hints

For a good scavenger hunt, you need to hide clues and items in different locations for your partner to find. What could these clues be? You can go for the simplest option: notes on paper in envelopes. Of course, you choose how far you want to go with your quest. But if you want to add some spice to your proposal, we recommend using special elements that have meaning within your relationship. Instead of simple notes, use objects. These could be photos, tickets from your first film together, a hug,…

Plan well in advance

Once you have already mapped out the locations and taken the items together, you now need to put everything together. What is the first and most important step? Creating a map of the route for your partner. You want to make sure the route is logical, and no part is missing. Also, make sure the map is clear! Imagine that your partner is endlessly searching and walks through the wrong part of the city. A disaster! Be sure to check the weather too, a scavenger hunt in the rain is anything but nice….

Do you have locations manned by staff? Then be sure to contact them in advance and ask if their staff are willing to participate. Tip: try to avoid public areas! Your clues could be accidentally or deliberately taken by people passing by and that would ruin your marriage proposal though….

Let the scavenger hunt begin

The time has come! The final step is to do everything together. Give your partner the first clue and send her on her way. You can tell her you need to go somewhere and won’t be back until later in the day. So how can you give your partner the first hint? Well, you obviously don’t go out, ring the bell at your front door and leave the first clue then quickly run away. When she opens the front door, she will look around in amazement and take in the first clue. The scavenger hunt begins!
